Né d’une idée aussi folle que fascinante, Curse of Cain n’est pas seulement un groupe, mais un univers cinématique à part entière : le Movie Metal.
Leur monde prend place après la dévastatrice Red War de 2076, dans une société fracturée, où l’espoir se meurt. Au cœur de ce chaos, se dresse Cain, figure mystérieuse et résistante, symbole d’une humanité brisée qui cherche la rédemption.
Chaque membre incarne un personnage issu de ce futur dystopique :
The Pirate, bassiste à la jambe cybernétique et voix de tempête, lutte contre sa soif de rhum.
The Soulkeeper, détenteur du Book of Souls, crache ses vérités d’une voix puissante.
Rainbow, métamorphe et volcanique, manie la voix et les percussions avec une force brute et une excitation débordante.
The Timekeeper, guitariste capable de contrôler le temps, compose dans une impatience presque explosive.
Et enfin The Mechanic, batteur ingénieur qui lutte contre la pluie acide et les engrenages d’un monde en ruine.
Ensemble, ils fusionnent musique, narration et spectacle dans une expérience totale, entre concert et film vivant.
Curse Of Cain revient plonger ses griffes dans nos oreilles avec Achtung!, leur deuxième album, sorti le 26 septembre 2025 via Reigning Phoenix Music.
Mirror Mirror
Achtung! s’ouvre sur une atmosphère sombre, avec des réverbérations inquiétantes et un petit murmure synthétique en fond. Puis, les guitares arrivent et tranchent cette ambiance en quelques secondes, avec un riff lourd, comme un miroir que l’on brise. Le refrain s’impose avec un gimmick de répétition “Mirror mirror mirror on the wall”. Chant partagé entre The Soulkeeper et Rainbow, qui donne un titre en parfait équilibre entre menace et beauté.
Feel The Pain
Après une courte introduction, douce et éthérée, on passe dans une dimension plus frontale. Le rythme est plus direct, la batterie martèle avec puissance, et les guitares jouent avec force une rythmique dansante et sautillante. Le couplet est brutal mais le refrain vient apporter un élan plus mélodique. Un passage plus posé vient changer la dynamique en milieu de titre et nous entraîne dans une dimension plus aérienne, un moment de calme plus méditatif avant de reprendre sur les guitares dansantes.
Starry Eyes
Plus atmosphérique, voire contemplatif dans son introduction. Le morceau joue sur les contrastes en associant des moments d’atmosphère lumineux, avec un univers plus sombre et frontal. Le duo voix/claviers fonctionne très bien ici : le chant se fait charmeur, parfois effleuré grâce à Rainbow, avant de revenir à une poussée plus noire sur les parties de The Soulkeeper. L’ombre guette toujours en arrière-plan. On est pris par surprise sur la fin du titre, avec un break de guitare introduit par le célèbre cri du jeu Mortal Kombat, renforcé par une reprise rythmique du thème de ce dernier.
One Zero
Après son introduction orchestrale et sa montée en puissance basse/batterie, One Zero est un titre à la fois technique et tendu. La thématique binaire “un et zéro” se retrouve dans le découpage du rythme, des breaks lourds, des silences pesants. Le morceau joue habilement avec les ruptures de ton. On sent que The Timekeeper s’amuse à plier le temps à sa guise, donnant une saveur particulière à One Zero. On ressent une dimension très cinématographique, aidée par les ruptures de tons, de tempo, et l’association des parties orchestrales au reste des instruments.
Candy Cain Murder
Ici, une certaine noirceur dramatique fait son effet dès l’introduction, avec ces chants d’enfants macabres, rappelant les ambiances à la Tim Burton. La tension monte. Le chant, incarné par The Soulkeeper, se fait nuancé, habité et théâtral. Le refrain est assuré, impérieux. Le riffing est plus rageur, les guitares sont affûtées, mais le groupe n’oublie pas de poser des mélodies fortes, notamment sur le clavier final. Un des moments les plus sombrement efficaces de l’album.
All Your Zombies
Curse Of Cain nous livre une surprise aussi inattendue que bienvenue : une reprise de All You Zombies de The Hooters, transformée pour correspondre à leur univers. On y retrouve une composition sombre aux teintes cinématographiques, comme une ballade post-apocalyptique où les “zombies” ne sont pas seulement des morts-vivants, mais des âmes perdues, en quête de sens. Une pause mélancolique et puissante, appuyée par une adaptation maîtrisée et la voix de Rainbow, colle parfaitement au titre. C’est une respiration différente, mais totalement intégrée et transfigurée dans le monde sombre d’Achtung!.
Blood Shanty (No Hope)
Retour à une ambiance plus frontale. Blood Shanty évoque des chants de marins, des révoltes de pirates mutins en pleine mer, façon métal indus apocalyptique. Le refrain a des accents d’hymne sombre, le chant rappelle un Till Lindemann au plus grave de ses notes. Les guitares, menées par The Timekeeper, sont d’une profondeur abyssale, prêtes à nous faire sombrer. Dans ce voyage à bord d’un navire en plein chavirement, The Pirate mène la mutinerie d’une main cybernétique, entre chaos et ivresse. On se laisse volontiers emporter par l’ambiance révolutionnaire de ces marins délétères.
Empty Hands
Empty Hands est, à nouveau, un titre aux accents plus introspectifs, plus fragiles dans ses débuts. On ressent le vide, la perte. Puis, peu à peu, tout va crescendo. Le morceau prend de l’ampleur : les guitares s’élèvent, la rythmique s’impose, les claviers nous transportent. Le chant nous pousse à l’introspection. C’est une chanson de lutte intérieure, de combat avec soi-même. L’émotion est palpable, à fleur de peau. Un moment de grâce entre deux ambiances sombres et funèbres.
Achtung
Achtung, le morceau-titre, nous impose un coup d’arrêt, une mise en garde : attention, la tension atteint son paroxysme. Riffs massifs, breaks marquants, ambiances lourdes : tout est là pour marquer. Une pièce mélangeant des relents évidents de Rammstein, Laibach, Marilyn Manson ou même Shaârghot pour les francophones. Un morceau narratif, qui cristallise le message du disque : la lumière et l’ombre en confrontation constante.
Tik Tok (Darkness)
Clôture parfaite, mélancolique et sombre. Le tic-tac du temps, cette mécanique impitoyable, revient nous imposer sa présence fatale et implacable. Le morceau joue sur le contraste entre les moments calmes et les envolées contrôlées. Le temps s’effiloche, le monde s’éteint, mais le rythme demeure obsédant. Une fin douce-amère, où l’obscurité nous tient dans ses bras, et où le battement persiste. Générique idéal pour un album à l’ambiance de cinéma.
Conclusion
Avec Achtung!, Curse Of Cain signe une œuvre ambitieuse, où chaque morceau est une scène, chaque riff est un acte. Le groupe confirme sa capacité à mêler metal, théâtre, narration et émotion, sans jamais sacrifier l’impact. L’album exige du temps : il ne se livre pas immédiatement, mais gagne en profondeur à chaque écoute. Ici, l’ombre n’est jamais passive. Elle dialogue avec la lumière, et c’est dans cette tension que réside la force du projet.

Born from an idea as crazy as it is fascinating, Curse of Cain is not just a band, but a cinematic universe in its own right: Movie Metal.

The Timekeeper, a guitarist capable of controlling time, composes with an almost explosive impatience.
And finally, The Mechanic, an engineer drummer who fights against acid rain and the gears of a world in ruins.
Together, they fuse music, storytelling, and performance into a total experience, somewhere between a concert and a live film.
Curse Of Cain returns to sink its claws into our ears with Achtung!, their second album, released on September 26, 2025, via Reigning Phoenix Music.
Mirror Mirror
Achtung! opens with a dark atmosphere, with disturbing reverberations and a small synthetic whisper in the background. Then the guitars kick in and cut through this atmosphere in seconds with a heavy riff, like a mirror being broken. The chorus imposes itself with a repetitive gimmick: “Mirror mirror mirror on the wall.” Vocals are shared between The Soulkeeper and Rainbow, creating a track that strikes the perfect balance between menace and beauty.
Feel The Pain
After a short, soft and ethereal introduction, we move into a more confrontational dimension. The rhythm is more direct, the drums pound powerfully, and the guitars play a forceful, dancing and bouncing rhythm. The verse is brutal, but the chorus brings a more melodic momentum. A more subdued passage changes the dynamic in the middle of the track and takes us into a more ethereal dimension, a moment of meditative calm before the dancing guitars kick in again.
Starry Eyes
More atmospheric, even contemplative in its introduction. The track plays on contrasts, combining moments of luminous atmosphere with a darker, more direct universe. The voice/keyboard duo works very well here: the vocals are charming, sometimes light thanks to Rainbow, before returning to a darker tone on The Soulkeeper‘s parts. The shadow always lurks in the background. We are taken by surprise at the end of the track, with a guitar break introduced by the famous cry from the game Mortal Kombat, reinforced by a rhythmic reprise of the latter’s theme.
One Zero
After its orchestral introduction and bass/drum build-up, One Zero is a track that is both technical and tense. The binary theme of “one and zero” is reflected in the rhythm, heavy breaks, and heavy silences. The track skillfully plays with breaks in tone. You can sense that The Timekeeper is having fun bending time to his will, giving One Zero a special flavor. There is a very cinematic feel to it, aided by the breaks in tone and tempo, and the combination of orchestral parts with the rest of the instruments.
Candy Cain Murder
Here, a certain dramatic darkness takes effect from the introduction, with macabre children’s songs reminiscent of Tim Burton‘s atmospheres. The tension rises. The vocals, embodied by The Soulkeeper, are nuanced, haunting, and theatrical. The chorus is confident and imperious. The riffing is more furious, the guitars are sharp, but the band doesn’t forget to lay down strong melodies, especially on the final keyboard. One of the darkest and most effective moments on the album.
All Your Zombies
Curse Of Cain delivers a surprise that is as unexpected as it is welcome: a cover of All You Zombies by The Hooters, transformed to fit their universe. It’s a dark composition with cinematic overtones, like a post-apocalyptic ballad where the “zombies” are not just the undead, but lost souls in search of meaning. A melancholic and powerful interlude, supported by a masterful adaptation and Rainbow‘s voice, fits the title perfectly. It’s a different breath of fresh air, but one that is fully integrated and transfigured into the dark world of Achtung!.
Blood Shanty (No Hope)
Back to a more confrontational atmosphere. Blood Shanty evokes sailors’ songs and mutinous pirates revolting on the high seas, in an apocalyptic industrial metal style. The chorus has the feel of a dark anthem, with vocals reminiscent of Till Lindemann at his lowest notes. The guitars, led by The Timekeeper, are abyssal in their depth, ready to drag us down. On this journey aboard a sinking ship, The Pirate leads the mutiny with a cybernetic hand, between chaos and intoxication. We willingly let ourselves be carried away by the revolutionary atmosphere of these deleterious sailors.
Empty Hands
Empty Hands is, once again, a track with more introspective, fragile accents at the beginning. We feel the emptiness, the loss. Then, little by little, everything builds to a crescendo. The song gains momentum: the guitars rise, the rhythm takes over, the keyboards transport us. The vocals push us towards introspection. It is a song of inner struggle, of fighting with oneself. The emotion is palpable, raw. A moment of grace between two dark and mournful atmospheres.
Achtung
Achtung, the title track, brings us to a sudden halt, a warning: beware, the tension is reaching its peak. Massive riffs, striking breaks, heavy atmospheres: everything is there to make an impression. A piece mixing obvious hints of Rammstein, Laibach, Marilyn Manson, and even Shaârghot for French speakers. A narrative track that crystallizes the message of the album: light and shadow in constant confrontation.
Tik Tok (Darkness)
A perfect, melancholic, and dark ending. The ticking of time, that ruthless mechanism, returns to impose its fatal and relentless presence on us. The track plays on the contrast between calm moments and controlled flights of fancy. Time frays, the world fades away, but the rhythm remains haunting. A bittersweet ending, where darkness holds us in its arms, and the beat persists. The ideal closing track for an album with a cinematic atmosphere.
Conclusion
With Achtung!, Curse Of Cain has created an ambitious work, where each track is a scene, each riff an act. The band confirms its ability to blend metal, theater, storytelling, and emotion without ever sacrificing impact.
