3 ans après le succès de leur précédent opus Beyond The Black, le groupe allemand revient nous présenter leur nouvel album nommé Break The Silence qui sera disponible le 9 janvier 2026 par le label Nuclear Blast.
Ce nouvel album a pour concept de mélanger musicalement le Metal Moderne avec la patte du groupe et des éléments ethniques. Là où au niveau des paroles les sujets sont toujours aussi profonds et à multiples facettes émotionnelles qui reflèterait la complexité du monde actuel.
Inutile de présenter Rising High ou encore Break The Silence puisqu’ils sont sortis en single depuis au moins juin 2025, et c’est une recette qui marche, du Metal Moderne à la sauce du groupe qui tape, est à la fois dansant, chantant, et puissant, ce qui promet un album dans la lignée du précédent. Et niveau puissance, nous sommes ici servis avec The Art Of Being Alone en feat avec le groupe allemand Lord Of The Lost. Une collaboration surprenante au vu des univers différents mais qui a le mérite de réunir deux fans bases opposées. Le contraste entre la voix de Jenifer Haben et celle de Chris Harms est juste étonnant et donne lieu à une performance captivante qui nous plonge dans les tourments d’être seul.
La partie ethnique prend tout son sens avec Let There Be Rain en feat avec The Mystery Of The Bulgarian Voices, un trio de chanteuses bulgares qui chantent essentiellement a cappella formé en 1952. Ce trio est surtout connu dans les années 90 pour avoir chanté le mythique générique de Xena La Guerrière. Une collaboration qui est en parfaite harmonie avec l’image et l’idée du groupe. Une pause dans les cascades de puissance avec Ravens qui revient dans une sobre mélodie acoustique comme un retour à l’essentiel primordial dans cet opus.
Et c’est la que tout perd son sens avec The Flood qui part dans un trip électro dans l’introduction et dans les chœurs qui n’a rien à voir avec l’univers du groupe, ce qui contrebalance complétement l’écoute. Il y a de grandes chances que cette prise de risque et cette initiative divise les fans. Dans un registre différent on retrouve l’ambiance du groupe que l’on chérit tant avec Can You Hear Me en feat avec Asami du groupe de Power Metal japonais Lovebites, et l’influence ne s’arête pas là avec un bon clin d’œil à la New Wave Of Britsh Heavy Metal avec un solo de guitare tout simplement efficace.
Cocorico ! (La Vie Est Un) Cinéma, un titre en français pour une chanson à moitié en anglais pour les couplets et en français pour les refrains et les pré refrains, mais il faut bien se l’avouer que musicalement ce n’est pas glorieux, c’est plat, peu dynamique et assez kitch. Après une tentative ratée avec la précédente, Hologram tente tant bien que mal de retrouver l’ambiance et l’énergie vitale du groupe en repartant sur du Metal Moderne sans rien apporter d’exceptionnel. Et pour finir une chanson en allemand, Weltschmerz est très douce et vient contraster avec le dynamisme du reste, mais reste encore un Ovni pour l’identité du groupe.
Beyond The Black nous propose un album avec deux structures différentes. La première du Beyond The Black pur et dur avec l’identité, les sonorités et l’énergie du groupe pour les deux singles sortis qui ont fait bien plus que leurs preuves, ET en prime les feat qui apportent chacun une plus value vraiment intéressante et inestimable. La deuxième qui est une vrai prise de risque avec une ambiance Metal Moderne électro mais assez mal gérée et qui manque cruellement de punch. Nous saluons quand même l’effort de vouloir faire avancer l’image du groupe. Ce nouvel opus va diviser les fans drastiquement car soit on aime, soit on déteste.

Three years after the success of their previous album Beyond The Black, the German band of the same name returns with their new album Break The Silence, which will be released on January 9, 2026, by the Nuclear Blast label.
The concept behind this new album is to musically blend modern metal with the band’s signature sound and ethnic elements. The lyrics continue to explore deep and multifaceted emotional themes that reflect the complexity of today’s world.
There’s no need to introduce Rising High or Break The Silence, as they have been available as singles since at least June 2025, and it’s a formula that works: modern metal with the band’s signature sound that is danceable, melodic, and powerful, promising an album in line with its predecessor.
And in terms of power, we are treated to The Art Of Being Alone featuring the German band Lord Of The Lost. It’s a surprising collaboration given their different worlds, but one that has the merit of bringing together two opposing fan bases. The contrast between Jenifer Haben’s voice and Chris Harms’ is simply astonishing and results in a captivating performance that plunges us into the torments of being alone.
The ethnic element comes into its own with Let There Be Rain, featuring The Mystery Of The Bulgarian Voices, a trio of Bulgarian singers who sing mainly a cappella, formed in 1952. This trio is best known in the 90s for singing the legendary theme song for Xena: Warrior Princess. It’s a collaboration that is in perfect harmony with the band’s image and concept. There is a break in the cascade of power with Ravens, which returns to a sober acoustic melody, like a return to the essential in this opus.
And that’s where everything loses its meaning with The Flood, which takes an electro trip in the introduction and in the choruses that has nothing to do with the band’s universe, completely counterbalancing the listening experience. There’s a good chance that this risk-taking and initiative will divide fans.
In a different vein, we find the atmosphere of the band that we cherish so much with Can You Hear Me, featuring Asami from the Japanese power metal band Lovebites, and the influence doesn’t stop there with a nod to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal with a simply effective guitar solo.
Cocorico! (La Vie Est Un) Cinéma, a French title for a song that is half in English for the verses and French for the choruses and pre-choruses, but we have to admit that musically it’s not glorious, it’s flat, lacking in dynamism and rather kitsch. After a failed attempt with the previous track, Hologram tries as best it can to recapture the band’s atmosphere and vital energy by returning to modern metal without bringing anything exceptional to the table. And to finish, a song in German, Weltschmerz, is very soft and contrasts with the dynamism of the rest, but still remains an anomaly for the band’s identity.
Beyond The Black offers us an album with two different structures. The first is pure, unadulterated Beyond The Black, with the band’s identity, sound, and energy evident in the two singles released, which have more than proven themselves, AND as a bonus, the guest appearances, each of which brings a truly interesting and invaluable added value. The second is a real risk-taking endeavor with a modern electro metal vibe, but it’s rather poorly managed and sorely lacking in punch. We still applaud the effort to advance the band’s image. This new opus will drastically divide fans because you either love it or hate it.
