Le groupe finlandais de Power Metal Battle Beast célèbre leurs 20 ans de carrière avec un nouvel album intitulé Steelbound, disponible à partir du 17 octobre 2025 par le label Nuclear Blast.
Après l’aventure incroyable proposée avec leur précédent album Circus Of Doom (qui est un must listen), le voyage continue avec The Burning Within qui donne le ton et ce dès l’introduction et nous prévient que : ce que l’on va écouter va être lourd et épique. Et bien, chose promie, chose dûe ! Entre l’introduction incroyable, la rythmique dansante, le solo endiablé et les petites prises de risque, je sens que mon objectivité va encore prendre des vacances. Et voila, nous y sommes ! Here We Are prends la suite avec une vibe très Heavy / Synthwave mais toujours moderne, un petit clin d’œil à tout ces classique qui ont bercés nos enfances. Autre petit clin d’oeil à ces tendres années avec Angel Of Midnight qui s’impose par son intro presque Hard Rock.
Pour Steelbound, vous prenez tout ce qu’il vous faut pour faire un titre pour reconnaître une chanson de Battle Beast, à ça vous ajoutez un soupçon de Noora Louhimo assez énervée (ce qui a crée une sacrée surprise) et le tout donne une chanson qui va figurer parmi leurs classiques. Autre surprise Twilight Cabaret qui a clairement plus sa place sur le précédent album mais comme on en veux toujours plus, on prends. Sinon laissez vous envouter par le rythme ultra catchy de cette chanson mais n’oubliez pas que les dès sont jetés ! Je n’ai pas besoin d’épiloguer plus longtemps pour Last Goodbye étant donné que c’est le premier single qui est sorti pour teaser ce nouvel opus et c’est du classique Battle Beast, un peu comme Riders Of The Storm qui propose dans son break une mélodie simple et douce au clavier.
Une interlude instrumentale aux inspirations chevaleresques avec un côté Game Of Thrones, voila ce qui nous attends pour The Long Road, Simple et Puissant. Si jusqu’à présent le côté Heavy prédominait et bien avec Blood Of Heroes, le navire chavire à contre courant en prenant un virage rempli de Power Metal et ça cartonne.
Est-ce que cet album est meilleur que le précédent ? Non ! Mais est-ce qu’il est bon ? Oui bien évidemment, avec des textes toujours profonds, des mélodies entêtantes et un chant absolument incontournable, ce nouvel opus va encore une fois marquer les esprits et charmer encore plus de fans, notamment avec le travail sur la batterie qui est BEAUCOUP plus Heavy, il y a eu une prise de risque et ça va donner un sacré coup de boost. Cependant, je suis déçue que la partie Power Metal ne soit pas plus explorée car il y a un vrai potentiel.

Finnish power metal band Battle Beast is celebrating its 20-year career with a new album entitled Steelbound, available from October 17, 2025, on the Nuclear Blast label.
After the incredible adventure offered by their previous album Circus Of Doom (which is a must listen), the journey continues with The Burning Within, which sets the tone right from the introduction and warns us that what we are about to hear is going to be heavy and epic. Well, a promise is a promise! Between the incredible introduction, the danceable rhythm, the frenzied solo, and the little risks taken, I feel that my objectivity is about to take another vacation. And here we are! Here We Are follows with a very heavy/synthwave vibe that still feels modern, a nod to all those classics that rocked our childhoods. Another nod to those tender years comes with Angel Of Midnight, which stands out with its almost hard rock intro.
For Steelbound, you take everything you need for a Battle Beast song, add a touch of Noora Louhimo’s energy (which comes as quite a surprise), and the result is a song that will become one of their classics. Another surprise is Twilight Cabaret, which clearly belongs more on the previous album, but since we always want more, we’ll take it. Otherwise, let yourself be captivated by the ultra-catchy rhythm of this song, but don’t forget that the die is cast! I don’t need to say any more about Last Goodbye, as it’s the first single released to tease this new album and it’s classic Battle Beast, a bit like Riders Of The Storm, which features a simple and gentle keyboard melody in its break.
An instrumental interlude with chivalrous inspirations and a Game Of Thrones feel is what awaits us on The Long Road, simple and powerful. If until now the heavy side has predominated, with Blood Of Heroes, the ship capsizes against the tide, taking a turn filled with power metal, and it’s a hit.
Is this album better than the previous one? No! But is it good? Yes, of course, with lyrics that are as profound as ever, haunting melodies, and absolutely essential vocals, this new opus will once again leave a lasting impression and charm even more fans, especially with the drumming, which is MUCH heavier. They took a risk, and it gave the album a real boost. However, I’m disappointed that the power metal aspect isn’t explored more, as there’s real potential there.
