30Les suèdois d’Aviana nous proposent leur nouvel album, Void, qui fait suite à l’excellent Corporation (2022). L’album sera disponible dès le 31 octobre, via Arising Empire et nous offre un featuring avec Eddie Berg, d’Imminence.
ITER_INCIPERE est une introduction très atmosphérique. On nous donne un sentiment de flottement, avec douceur et quelques sonorités qui se développent petit à petit. Les instruments arrivent et dynamisent le tout. Il n’y a pas de chant ici mais l’ensemble est intense, captivant et se développe tout du long. Une très belle façon d’ouvrir ce nouvel opus. FATHER est tout le contraire du titre précédent car le chant arrive dès la première seconde. Il est agressif avant de se transformer en quelque chose de répétitif, qui donne un petit côté hymne, qui pourra être repris par le public en concert. Ce moment est grand et intense mais il ne dure qu’une vingtaine de secondes avant de passer à quelque chose de plus calme, ponctué de quelques touches électro. L’agressivité revient vite pourtant, posant les choses et surtout nous surprenant. On découvre une alternance entre deux types de chant, en total opposition mais qui renforce les choses et qui crée un final explosif. HEAVENLY_SPARKS part sur une introduction assez planante où les sonorités s’ajoutent petit à petit. C’est un scream explosif qui lance véritablement le morceau. L’instrumentalité est dans la même veine, violente, brut. On nous surprend avec un passage doux, qui reprend les codes de l’introduction où un chant clair vient se poser et prend son temps. On retrouve la même alternance de chant que le titre précédent et c’est toujours aussi efficace.

REDROOM débute avec une instrumentalité dynamique composée de sonorités aériennes qui donnent un petit quelque chose en plus. Le chant clair arrive dans un murmure, prenant son temps et étant accompagné de plusieurs notes électro. Le refrain est plus poussé et devient rapidement captivant, faisant vibrer nos émotions. On joue sur les différents chants, le rythme est entraînant et c’est lors de la dernière minute que l’agressivité du groupe se réveille, dynamisant une dernière fois l’ensemble. DELIRIUM ouvre sur un chant qui semble nous sauter dessus. C’est brut et les instruments accompagnent parfaitement cette idée. Le groupe nous roule dessus et ne nous accorde que quelques rares poses où l’électro prend le dessus. Le chant semble ne jamais s’arrêter et les instruments se rapprochent du djent. Un morceau court, moins de deux minutes mais intense ! STORM_ABLAZE nous marque par son chant qui semble plein de souffrance. Un début différent et qui marque mais qui reste de courte durée avant de repartir sur le rythme habituel du groupe. Le son semble plus haché, plus profond et nous surprend avec une interruption plus douce et sentimentale. On retrouve assez vite l’ambiance générale plus violente mais avec un rythme légèrement différent. L’instrumentalité semble plus lourde et est plus mise en avant. La fin vient finir en apothéose avec la combinaison des deux chants, entraînant le morceau vers quelque chose d’assez aérien.
EVERMORE débute avec un chant qui a un côté plus robotique, cela reste intriguant mais s’intègre parfaitement à l’ensemble. Les instruments viennent jouer sur la hauteur et un changement de rythme avec l’apparition du chant clair, uniquement accompagné de touches électro. La batterie s’y ajoute et crée un second rythme, donnant quelque chose d’assez complet. Les scream s’y glissent et l’ensemble nous conduit à un breakdown qui va faire tomber des mâchoires ! IN_CONTINUA_ITER est assez dynamique dès les premières secondes et c’est l’arrivée du chant qui vient apporter de la rapidité. Ce dynamisme va alterner entre un chant qui tire les choses puis se met en retrait et là c’est les instruments qui vont tirer les choses. Un effet intéressant et qui fonctionne parfaitement ici. On alterne également avec des moments plus doux et d’autres plus brutaux. Chaque élément ici est mis en avant et le breakdown est redoutable. Le titre se conclut avec une mélodie qui représente parfaitement le calme après la tempête. INTO_THE_VOID ouvre sur le chant clair, il se traîne un peu et on sent que l’instrumentalité évolue en fond, il ondule et s’efface avec l’arrivée violente du chant. Le tout va finalement avancer de front, renforcé par la courte apparition du chant clair, avec son côté aérien et grandiose. On retrouve plusieurs pauses comme celle-ci, permettant de créer quelque chose de plus profond. WORLDS_PULSE vient clôturer ce dernier album. D’une durée de presque cinq minutes, il accueille le seul guest de cet opus : Eddie Berg d’Imminence. On débute sur un fond électro qui vient donner le ton et qui nous surprend par le choix de mettre le chant clair en premier. L’électro ici à son importance car elle va créer différentes ambiances tout au long de l’écoute. Cet effet est aidé par les différents chants et l’ensemble nous propose de nombreuses sonorités mais aussi joue avec nos sentiments. Aviana nous propose un schéma différent du reste de l’album et cela fonctionne parfaitement, reflétant leur identité et vers quoi il se tourne. Le chant plus grave cherche toujours plus loin et nous conduit sur le violon d’Eddie qui semble arrêter le temps, il perce, apporte de la lumière, de l’espoir et va nous bercer jusqu’à la fin du morceau.
Aviana nous propose un nouvel album qui prend une direction différente. Au milieu de leur énergie, de leur noirceur et de leur violence, se crée une petite bulle de douceur, de lumière qui évolue bien plus ici. Un opus qui saura toucher les cœurs des fans et qui nous propose un featuring de qualité, preuve que la Suède a de beaux jours devant elle au niveau metalcore.

Swedish band Aviana presents their new album, Void, the follow-up to the excellent Corporation (2022). The album will be available from October 31st via Arising Empire and features a collaboration with Eddie Berg of Imminence.
ITER_INCIPERE is a very atmospheric introduction. We’re given a feeling of floating, with gentleness and a few sounds that gradually develop. The instruments arrive and energize everything. There are no vocals here, but the whole thing is intense, captivating, and builds throughout. A very beautiful way to open this new album. FATHER is the complete opposite of the previous track, as the vocals arrive from the very first second. They’re aggressive before transforming into something repetitive, giving it a slightly anthemic feel, something that the audience could sing along to at a concert. This moment is grand and intense, but it only lasts about twenty seconds before transitioning to something calmer, punctuated by a few electronic touches. The aggression quickly returns, however, grounding things and, above all, surprising us. We discover an alternation between two types of vocals, in total opposition, but which reinforces the experience and creates an explosive finale. HEAVENLY_SPARKS opens with a rather ethereal introduction where sounds gradually build. An explosive scream truly launches the track. The instrumentation follows the same vein: violent and raw. We’re surprised by a gentler passage, echoing the intro’s style, where clean vocals settle in and take their time. The same vocal alternation as the previous track is present, and it remains just as effective.

REDROOM begins with dynamic instrumentals composed of ethereal sounds that add a little something extra. The clean vocals arrive in a whisper, taking their time and accompanied by several electronic notes. The chorus is more developed and quickly becomes captivating, stirring our emotions. The different vocal styles are played on, the rhythm is catchy, and it’s in the last minute that the band’s aggression awakens, energizing the whole thing one last time. DELIRIUM opens with vocals that seem to leap out at us. It’s raw, and the instruments perfectly complement this idea. The band rolls over us, granting us only a few rare pauses where the electronic elements take over. The vocals seem never to stop, and the instruments approach djent. A short track, less than two minutes, but intense! STORM_ABLAZE makes its mark with vocals that seem full of suffering. A different and striking beginning, but one that remains short-lived before returning to the band’s usual rhythm. The sound seems more fragmented, deeper, and surprises us with a gentler, more sentimental interruption. We quickly return to the more intense overall atmosphere, but with a slightly different rhythm. The instrumentation seems heavier and more prominent. The ending culminates in a triumphant combination of the two vocals, propelling the track towards something quite ethereal.
EVERMORE begins with vocals that have a more robotic quality; it’s intriguing but blends perfectly into the overall sound. The instruments play with pitch and a change of rhythm with the introduction of clean vocals, accompanied only by electronic touches. The drums join in, creating a second rhythm, resulting in a fairly complete sound. Screams are then inserted, and the whole thing leads to a jaw-dropping breakdown! IN_CONTINUA_ITER is quite dynamic from the very first seconds, and it’s the arrival of the vocals that brings speed. This dynamism alternates between vocals that initially take center stage and then recede, with the instruments taking over. It’s an interesting effect that works perfectly here. The track also alternates between softer moments and more brutal ones. Every element is highlighted, and the breakdown is formidable. The track concludes with a melody that perfectly represents the calm after the storm. INTO_THE_VOID opens with clean vocals, which linger a bit, allowing the instrumentals to evolve in the background, undulating and fading with the sudden arrival of the vocals. Everything then moves forward, reinforced by the brief appearance of the clean vocals, with their ethereal and grandiose quality. Several pauses like this one create a deeper sense of space. WORLDS_PULSE closes this latest album. Nearly five minutes long, it features the only guest appearance on this release: Eddie Berg of Imminence. It begins with an electronic soundscape that sets the tone and surprises us with the choice to place the clean vocals first. The electronic elements are important here, creating different atmospheres throughout the listening experience. This effect is enhanced by the various vocals, and the whole offers a wide range of sounds while also playing with our emotions. Aviana presents a different approach from the rest of the album, and it works perfectly, reflecting their identity and the direction they are heading. The deeper vocals reach ever deeper, leading us to Eddie’s violin, which seems to stop time. It pierces through, bringing light and hope, and lulls us until the end of the track.
Aviana offers us a new album that takes a different direction. Amidst their energy, darkness, and violence, a small bubble of gentleness and light emerges, a feeling that is much more pronounced here. This album will touch the hearts of fans and features a high-quality guest appearance, proving that Sweden has a bright future in the metalcore scene.
