Le groupe américain Attack Attack! est de retour avec un nouvel album intitulé Attack Attack! II, disponible à partir du 8 Août 2025 par le label Oxide Records.
Après plus de 10 ans après leur séparation, allons découvrir comment le groupe a bien pu évoluer et ça démarre avec One Hit Wonder et son introduction synthétisé, sa batterie qui bat la mesure de manière efficace mais qui manque cruellement de punch, et cela se ressent beaucoup notamment dans le refrain qui se veux plus dansant et qui en devient entêtant. Je reste plutôt perplexe à voir par la suite, avec Dance! en featuring avec Will Ramos. Cette dernière reprends les codes que l’on peut entendre avec Electric Callboy avec une mélodie simple et parfaitement bien harmonisé entre le synthé et le Metal, avec en prime la puissance vocale de Will Ramos. Une chanson qui m’a donné envie de danser pendant tout le temps de l’écoute. Chainless prends le relai avec des idées similaires et ça fonctionne bien.
Walk On Water nous présente le rappeur américain Doobie et propose un titre entre le Metalcore et le Nu Metal, qui passe bien mais reste assez banale, tant dis que Karmageddon reprends le chemin de ce qui se faisait au début de cet album et ça en deviens assez redondant malgré un breakdown assez sombre et intéressant. Alors que Live, Love, & Die est plus qu’oubliable, et je ne pensais que ça ne pourrait pas être pire et c’est la que I Complain On r/metalcore apparait avec un rythme complètement WTF et rien ne va. Big Booty Britches va continuer à faire un pied de nez à tout et avec humour. La chanson ne se prend pas du tout au sérieux mais dans son immaturité, elle reste bien construite.
La tempête se calme un peu Without You qui offre une mélodie posée avec un chant doux jusqu’au refrain qui part dans un délire 100% électro. Tout comme Sacrifice et Jump Jump! qui reprenne un peu Metal dans leur composition mais n’ont aucun intérêt dans cet opus.
ATTENTION : cet album n’est pas pour les fans d’Attack Attack! de la première heure, si vous les avez connu à l’époque de Smokahontas, passez votre chemin ! Ce nouvel album va surement plaire à une nouvelle fanbase car il reste très bon public et accessible mais, pour moi ce n’est qu’une pâle copie sous IA d’Electric Callboy et de Fall Out Boys très mal faite. Cela part dans tous les sens et il n’y aucun sens dans le choix des morceaux. J’attendais ce retour en espérant retrouver l’énergie révoltante de l’époque, et bien la chute est rude et sans âmes.

The American band Attack Attack! is back with a new album entitled Attack Attack! II, available from August 8, 2025, on the Oxide Records label.
More than 10 years after their breakup, let’s find out how the band has evolved, starting with One Hit Wonder and its synthesized intro, its drums beating the beat effectively but sorely lacking in punch, which is particularly noticeable in the chorus, which is meant to be more danceable and ends up being catchy. I’m rather perplexed by what follows, with Dance! featuring Will Ramos. The latter takes up the codes we hear with Electric Callboy, with a simple melody and perfect harmony between synth and metal, with the added bonus of Will Ramos’ powerful vocals. It’s a song that made me want to dance the whole time I was listening to it. Chainless takes over with similar ideas, and it works well.
Walk On Water features American rapper Doobie and offers a track somewhere between metalcore and nu metal, which is fine but remains fairly mundane, while Karmageddon returns to the style of the beginning of the album and becomes rather redundant despite a fairly dark and interesting breakdown. Live, Love, & Die is more than forgettable, and just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, I Complain On r/metalcore appears with a completely WTF rhythm and nothing works. Big Booty Britches continues to thumb its nose at everything with humor. The song doesn’t take itself seriously at all, but despite its immaturity, it remains well constructed.
The storm calms down a bit with Without You, which offers a calm melody with soft vocals until the chorus, which goes into a 100% electro frenzy. Exactly like Sacrifice and Jump Jump! bring back a bit of metal in their composition but are of no interest in this opus.
WARNING: this album is not for long-time Attack Attack! fans. If you knew them back in the Smokahontas days, move on! This new album will surely appeal to a new fanbase because it remains very accessible and crowd-pleasing, but for me it’s just a pale, poorly executed AI copy of Electric Callboy and Fall Out Boys. It goes off in all directions and there is no sense in the choice of tracks. I was looking forward to this comeback, hoping to rediscover the rebellious energy of the past, but the fall is hard and soulless.
