Le groupe Américain ALTER BRIDGE sous le label NAPALM RECORD est de retour ce 9 janvier avec leur nouvel album self titled “ALTER BRIDGE”, un album plein de sens pour le groupe formé en 2004.
Le groupe revient aux sources avec un album composé de 12 chansons, et des riffs travaillé, ainsi que des lyrics plein de sens.
L’album démarre avec le morceau “SILENT DIVIDE”, un morceau au lyrics très puissant et entraînant qui donne envie de les hurler, un riff de guitare qui nous prend aux tripes, le groupe nous fait part d’une vibe heavy metal mais en restant très rock, les lyrics tel que “Remember rage is blind” nous fait part d’une sorte de message puissant sur le reste de la chanson quelque chose de réfléchis qui finit par “exploser”.
Ce qui nous annonce que du bon pour la suite de l’album qui poursuit avec “RUE THE DAY” qui entre avec un riff puissant et qui nous donne envie de headbang, une vibe assez sombre et des riffs de guitare qui casserait le cordes de celle-ci. Le refrain reste très mélodique mais amène ce contraste à l’univers plus sombre des paroles.
“POWER DOWN” attaque avec un riff de guitare et de batterie violent et surprenant, mais avec des lyrics qui nous demande prendre le temps et de prendre les opportunitées qui viennent et de ne pas les laisser filer, un breakdown qualitatif avec un riff aussi vif et puissant.
“TRUST IN ME” est tout aussi heavy mais reste plus mélodique, les lyrics “Build your trust in me May it never die ‘Til your breath is gone” nous rapporte à continuer de croire et faire confiance et que cette confiance ne doit jamais mourir même jusqu’à la fin, donc une sorte de confiance aveugle envers une personne.
Dans le morceau “DISREGARDED” on peut vraiment comprendre une sorte de doute et douleur notamment avec cette phrase “I should have known from the start I’d be disregarded” qui nous projette dans les émotions ressenties par Myles, il se fait une promesse à la fin du morceau “Left on my own in the dark I won’t be discarded again No way”.
“ TESTED AND ABLE “ nous ramène sur une note plus douce avec les phrases “Take this dance with me Without you, I am nothing” et “I know you always fear the worst Let go this doesn’t have to hurt This road is paved with empty words” des lyrics doux mais des riffs toujours aussi profonds et brutaux.
Cette musique nous amène à “ WHAT LIES WITHIN” une sorte d’hymne plein de rage “Please don’t give in Release the anger move on” avec un appel à libérer sa colère intérieur et de passé à autre choses ne pas prêter attention à tout ce qui nous gêne, accompagné de riffs de guitare assez doux mais à la fois résonnant comme une sorte de crescendo vers un riff final colérique et qui libère cette rage.
“HANG BY A THREAD” en comparaison sonne doux avec des paroles qui nous transporte vers des émotions bien différentes les unes des autres, une sorte de “ pause” dans toute cette rage, de légère sonorité country/rock,une chanson qui respire la résilience “In the end I will survive I’ve seen the darkest days” qui nous prouve que malgré toutes les épreuve on peut choisir l’issue.
Pour “SCALES ARE FALLING” un début très doux aussi mais à la fois qui nous mets dans une ambiance sombre, mais qui monte crescendo avec des paroles puissante comme un appel à l’aide, des riffs de guitare très travaillé et qui nous garde dans l’ambiance tout le long.
“PLAYING ACES” commence très fort une entrée très heavy et plaisante , des lyrics mélodieux et qui donne envie de chanter tout au long de la chanson et encore une fois plein de sens avec un breakdown très plaisant pour les oreilles.
Nous arrivons vers la fin de l’album avec “ WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR” qui nous emporte vers un mood sombre et heavy très entêtant qui apporte une touche plus puissante pour la fin, et nous propose des lyrics puissant tant dans la manière que dans leurs significations.
Pour clôturer cet album “ SLAVE TO MASTER” une musique qui commence en douceur avec des lyrics presque chuchoter mais très éloquent, le morceau explose avec une batterie et une guitare bien présente et qui nous transporte sur les lyrics.
Tout au long de cet album on découvre un univers très marqué et des thèmes récurrents dans les lyrics qui nous transporte dans l’univers du groupe qui est très mélodique avec des riffs lourds et incroyables.
Cet album enflammé nous annonce un retour en flèche de la part du groupe !

The band returns to its roots with an album composed of 12 songs, polished riffs, and meaningful lyrics.
The album kicks off with the track “SILENT DIVIDE,” a song with powerful, catchy lyrics that make you want to scream along, and a guitar riff that grabs you by the gut. the band gives us a heavy metal vibe while remaining very rock, with lyrics such as “Remember rage is blind” conveying a powerful message throughout the rest of the song, something thoughtful that ends up “exploding.”
This bodes well for the rest of the album, which continues with “RUE THE DAY,” which kicks off with a powerful riff that makes us want to headbang, a rather dark vibe, and guitar riffs that would break the strings. The chorus remains very melodic but contrasts with the darker universe of the lyrics.
“POWER DOWN” kicks off with a violent and surprising guitar and drum riff, but with lyrics that urge us to take our time and seize the opportunities that come our way and not let them slip away, a high-quality breakdown with a riff that is just as lively and powerful.
“TRUST IN ME” is just as heavy but remains more melodic. The lyrics “Build your trust in me May it never die ‘Til your breath is gone” remind us to continue believing and trusting, and that this trust must never die, even until the end, so it’s a kind of blind trust in a person.
In the song “DISREGARDED,” we can really understand a kind of doubt and pain, especially with the line “I should have known from the start I’d be disregarded,” which projects us into the emotions felt by Myles. He makes a promise to himself at the end of the song: “Left on my own in the dark, I won’t be discarded again. No way.”
“TESTED AND ABLE” brings us back to a softer note with the lines “Take this dance with me Without you, I am nothing” and “I know you always fear the worst Let go this doesn’t have to hurt This road is paved with empty words” soft lyrics but riffs that are as deep and brutal as ever.
This music brings us to “WHAT LIES WITHIN,” a kind of anthem full of rage “Please don’t give in Release the anger move on” with a call to release your inner anger and move on, not paying attention to anything that bothers you, accompanied by guitar riffs that are quite soft but at the same time resonate like a kind of crescendo towards a final angry riff that releases this rage.
“HANG BY A THREAD” sounds soft in comparison, with lyrics that transport us to very different emotions, a kind of ‘pause’ in all this rage, with a slight country/rock sound, a song that exudes resilience: “In the end I will survive I’ve seen the darkest days,” proving that despite all the trials, we can choose the outcome.
« SCALES ARE FALLING” also has a very gentle start, but at the same time puts us in a dark mood, which builds to a crescendo with powerful lyrics like a cry for help and finely crafted guitar riffs that keep us in the mood throughout.
“PLAYING ACES” starts off strong with a heavy and pleasant intro, melodious lyrics that make you want to sing along throughout the song, and once again, meaningful content with a breakdown that is very pleasing to the ears.
We reach the end of the album with “WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR,” which takes us into a dark and heavy mood that is very haunting, bringing a more powerful touch to the end, and offering us lyrics that are powerful both in their delivery and their meaning.
To close the album, “SLAVE TO MASTER” begins softly with lyrics that are almost whispered but very eloquent, then explodes with drums and guitar that carry us along with the lyrics.
Throughout this album, we discover a very distinctive universe and recurring themes in the lyrics that transport us into the band’s world, which is very melodic with heavy and incredible riffs.
This fiery album heralds a spectacular comeback for the band!
