[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Le 3 mars dernier, Motionless In White était de retour à Toulouse pour un show exceptionnel! Accompagné par Make Them Suffer et Dayseeker, la soirée a remplie toutes ses promesses. Merci à Regarts pour l’accréditation.
La soirée commence avec les australiens de Make Them Suffer, la salle est déjà bien remplie pour profiter de leur set court mais terriblement efficace! On découvre la salle de l’Interférence qui semble bien adaptée pour ce genre de concert (mais pas la sécurité). Le set commence par Ghost Of Me extrait de leur album éponyme sorti en 2024. Sean Harmanis au chant n’hésitera pas à haranguer la fosse plusieurs fois et on assistera bien sûr aux premiers pits de la soirée que ce soit sur Epitaph, Mana God ou encore Doomswitch qui vient clôturer le set. Une très bonne performance certes un peu courte mais sur laquelle on prendra plaisir. Seul bémol : La claviériste-chanteuse Alex Reade joue littéralement dans le noir et si elle ne s’avançait pas un peu de temps à autre, le public n’aurait sûrement pas remarquée sa présence!
On continue avec un set qu’il nous tardait de découvrir celui de Dayseeker! Là où Make Them Suffer avait commencé à chauffer le public comme il se doit, Dayseeker va « refroidir » un peu l’ambiance même si on peut voir quand même quelques fans dans la salle reprenant les paroles chantées par Rory Rodriguez, c’est un peu la douche froide… Même si le frontman communique énormément et que le concert reste excellent ce n’est pas vraiment le résultat auquel on s’attendait mais on prend plaisir à découvrir Pale Moonlight, Crawl Back to My Coffin, Neon Grave ou encore Without Me en version live, c’est beau, c’est pur mais c’est peut-être trop « doux » après la machine MTS!
Mais le moment qu’on attend tous arrive enfin et il est temps pour Motionless In White de monter sur scène! Et ça quel plaisir! Après une intro déjantée avec ce petit chat projeté sur l’écran, il est temps de se prendre Meltdown en pleine face et après un show très mitigé au Hellfest l’an dernier quel plaisir de voir un VRAI set convaincant et dynamique de MIW, on continue avec Sign Of Life et évidemment A-M-E-R-I-C-A, quel plaisir d’entendre d’ailleurs ce titre plus ancien en live. Chris communique beaucoup, semble bien plus en forme qu’au Hellfest, plus souriant et remercie le public plusieurs fois d’être venu si nombreux tout en rappelant les souvenirs de leurs précédentes venues dans la ville rose. L’écran géant et la présence des Cherry Bomb apportent également un gros plus dans ce show littéralement construit à l’américaine et la set-list nous ravie encore plus avec notamment leur dernier single en date Afraid Of The Dark ou encore Werewolf avec la chorégraphie exécutée sur scène, Necessary Evil (avec les images du clip), Slaughterhouse sur lequel Sean de Make Them Suffer viendra prendre les parties de Bryan Garris, Rats , Disguise ou encore City Lights (moment émotion) et Not My Type : Dead As Fuck 2. Le set se conclut sur Another Life et Masterpiece avec l’habituel lancé de roses mais nous on a déjà quittée la salle avant Another…ces deux derniers titres nous sortant littéralement par les yeux!
En bref, aucunement déçu par ce set tout bonnement incroyablement aussi bien visuellement que musicalement, Motionless In White continue à prendre de l’ampleur et on a hâte de découvrir la suite!
[ENGLISH VERSION] On March 3, Motionless In White returned to Toulouse for an exceptional show! With Make Them Suffer and Dayseeker as opening acts, the evening lived up to all expectations. Thanks to Regarts for the press/photo pass.
The evening kicked off with the Australians from Make Them Suffer; the venue was already packed to enjoy their short but incredibly effective set! We got a first look at the Interférence venue, which seemed well-suited for this kind of concert (though the security wasn’t). The set kicks off with “Ghost Of Me” from their self-titled album released in 2024. Vocalist Sean Harmanis doesn’t hesitate to rile up the crowd several times, and we naturally witness the first mosh pits of the night during “Epitaph,” “Mana God,” and “Doomswitch,” which wraps up the set. A very strong performance—admittedly a bit short—but one we thoroughly enjoy. The only downside: keyboardist-vocalist Alex Reade literally plays in the dark, and if she hadn’t stepped forward every now and then, the audience surely wouldn’t have noticed she was there!
Next up is a set we’ve been eager to see: Dayseeker! While Make Them Suffer had really started to get the crowd going, Dayseeker “cools things down” a bit—even though you can still see a few fans in the crowd singing along to Rory Rodriguez’s lyrics, it’s a bit of a letdown… Even though the frontman is very engaging and the concert remains excellent, it’s not really the result we were expecting, but we enjoy discovering “Pale Moonlight,” “Crawl Back to My Coffin,” “Neon Grave,” and “Without Me” in live versions—it’s beautiful, it’s pure, but it’s perhaps too “mellow” after the MTS machine!
But the moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived, and it’s time for Motionless In White to take the stage! And what a treat! After a wild intro featuring that little cat projected on the screen, it’s time to get hit with “Meltdown” full force. And after a very mixed show at Hellfest last year, what a treat to see a TRULY compelling and dynamic set from MIW. We continue with “Sign Of Life” and, of course, “A-M-E-R-I-C-A”—what a treat, by the way, to hear this older track live. Chris interacts a lot, seems much more in shape than at Hellfest, is smiling more, and thanks the crowd several times for coming out in such large numbers while reminiscing about their previous visits to the Pink City. The giant screen and the presence of Cherry Bomb also add a major highlight to this show, which is literally built in the American style, and the setlist delights us even more, notably with their latest single “Afraid Of The Dark” or “Werewolf” with the choreography performed on stage, “Necessary Evil” (with images from the music video), “Slaughterhouse,” on which Sean from Make Them Suffer takes over Bryan Garris’s parts, “Rats,” “Disguise,” “City Lights” (an emotional moment), and “Not My Type: Dead As Fuck 2.” The set concludes with “Another Life” and “Masterpiece,” accompanied by the usual throwing of roses, but we had already left the venue before “Another”… those last two tracks were literally driving us out of our minds!
In short, we were in no way disappointed by this set, which was simply incredible both visually and musically. Motionless In White continues to gain momentum, and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
