Against The Current a fait salle comble à la Maroquinerie le 15 mars dernier pour célébrer ses 15 ans de carrière ! En effet, le choix de la salle n’était pas dû au hasard des calendriers mais bien à une volonté du groupe de retrouver les fans dans cette salle mythique et intimiste. C’est Chrissy Costanza qui a raconté cette anecdote durant le concert.
Pas de première partie pour cette tournée anniversaire, le concert commence à 20h30 et durera une bonne heure et quarante cinq minutes. Une belle setlist qui a rameuté des fans internationaux que l’on peut entendre dans la fosse ultra compacte. Le set débute donc avec Talk et donne une bonne idée de l’énergie scénique qui nous attend. Les titres s’enchainent et le public est a fond, blindfolded, again&again, Voices, puis vient Wasteland où l’on peut entendre les chœurs résonner dans la salle.
De temps en temps, Chrissy prend la parole pour raconter des anecdote ou faire participer le public. Par exemple, il nous a été demandé d’inventer un chant tel ceux des équipes de football et de leur envoyer sur les réseaux sociaux, apparemment car ça aurait toujours été l’un de leur rêve ! Plus qu’a attendre de voir si un tel chant sortira un jour !
L’ambiance se calme un peu pour profiter de quelques chansons en acoustique comme Infinity et Fireproof. Le set continue avec des incontournable tels que that won’t save us, jump ou encore Chasing Ghosts. Puis arrive Gravity, et là, toute la salle brandi en même temps des affiches où il est écrit « Against The Current is our gravity since 2011« . C’est beau à voir !
A la demande générale et pour faire plaisir aux fans de la première heure, Against The Current à ajouté Outsiders à la setlist, après plus de 8 ans sans la jouer live. L’effervescence de la fosse prouve que c’était attendu ! C’est maintenant l’heure du rappel, mais avant de continuer, Chrissy annonce que le groupe sera de retour à Paris avant la fin de l’année mais aussi qu’un nouveau single sortira dans moins de deux semaines et même qu’un album sera sorti entre temps ! Encore une fois, la Maroquinerie n’est que joie et émotions. Et le set se termine sur Wildfire, Legends Never Die et enfin weapon.

Against The Current played to a packed house at La Maroquinerie on March 15 to celebrate their 15-year career! In fact, the choice of venue wasn’t a matter of chance but rather the band’s desire to reconnect with fans in this legendary, intimate venue. Chrissy Costanza shared this anecdote during the concert.
There was no opening act for this anniversary tour; the concert began at 8:30 PM and lasted a solid hour and forty-five minutes. A great setlist drew international fans, whose voices could be heard in the packed mosh pit. The set kicked off with “Talk,” giving a good sense of the energy on stage that awaited us. The songs flow one after another, and the crowd is going wild: “Blindfolded”, “Again & Again”, “Voices”, and then comes “Wasteland”, where you can hear the backing vocals echoing through the venue.
From time to time, Chrissy speaks up to share anecdotes or get the audience involved. For example, we were asked to come up with a chant like those of soccer teams and send them to them on social media—apparently because that’s always been one of their dreams! Now we just have to wait and see if such a chant ever comes out!
The atmosphere calms down a bit so the crowd can enjoy a few acoustic songs like “Infinity” and “Fireproof.” The set continues with classics such as “That Won’t Save Us,” “Jump,” and “Chasing Ghosts.” Then comes “Gravity,” and at that moment, the entire venue raises signs at the same time that read, “Against The Current is our gravity since 2011.” It’s a beautiful sight!
By popular demand and to please their longtime fans, Against The Current added “Outsiders” to the setlist, after more than eight years without playing it live. The excitement in the pit proves just how much it was anticipated! It’s now time for the encore, but before continuing, Chrissy announces that the band will be back in Paris before the end of the year, that a new single will be released in less than two weeks, and that an album will even be released in the meantime! Once again, La Maroquinerie is filled with nothing but joy and emotion. And the set ends with “Wildfire”, “Legends Never Die” and finally “Weapon.”
