[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Le troisième album du groupe texan Necrofier, Transcend Into Oblivion sera disponible dès demain (vendredi 27 février 2026) via Metal Blade Records. Comme on peut le constater dans la tracklist, le chiffre 3 semble avoir eu une grande importance ici puisque ce nouvel opus contient trois morceaux (ou actes) qui se présentent sous forme de trilogie qui sont entrecoupés par trois titres instrumentaux.
Le premier acte est donc Fires of the Apocalypse, Light My Path qui représente le réveil et le moment où la nuit noire commence. C’est probablement l’acte le plus « simple » mais aussi le plus fondamental dans les bases musicales de Necrofier. Ici on est sur du Black Metal pur et dur avec des influences qui viennent littéralement du BM scandinave (Norvège/Finlande…). Les hurlements du vocaliste Bakka se couplent parfaitement à la rythmique rapide et aux blast-beats de Dobber Beverly, trois premiers morceaux en soit très agréables à l’écoute. Behold, the Birth of Ascension est le premier morceau instrumental qui s’inspire des goûts cinématographiques du groupe pour les BO de film comme par exemple celle de Dune ou encore la Neuvième porte, ce premier interlude continue à nous plonger dans la noirceur de Necrofier notamment à travers les cris qu’on peut entendre ici.
Deuxième acte avec Servants of Darkness, Guide My Way qui représente la lutte et les tourments dû à la destruction de l’égo humain et de sa transformation. La voix du vocaliste se transforme littéralement dans cette ambiance plus froide qui comporte des orchestrations qui rendent la première partie presque majestueuse. Quand à la deuxième partie, elle nous offre un peu de répit notamment avec la coupure interprétée à la guitare espagnole qui montre une certaine approche de la mélodie de la part de la formation dans un morceau somme toute agressif. La troisième partie replonge dans la noirceur la plus totale accentuée par la voix gutturale de Bakka et le rythme plus monotone du batteur. Pour certains ça pataugerait un peu dans le déjà-entendu mais quand c’est bien fait et ici c’est le cas! Mystical Creation of Enlightenment nous accorde un réel répit même si les lignes de chant présentes continuent à donner un côté très sombre voir lugubre à l’ensemble.
Le dernier acte se fait donc sur Horns of Destruction, Lift My Blade qui correspond à la renaissance de l’âme. Cette dernière trilogie nous plonge dans quelque chose de plus mélodique, plus tribal avec une ambiance également versée dans quelque chose de plus chamanique et apporte encore du grain à moudre dans le côté immersif mais aussi cinématographique de Necrofier. Toward the Necrofier vient donc conclure ce dernier acte et ce nouvel album, on pourrait d’ailleurs considérer ce dernier morceau comme une outro même si le chant finit par y revenir de manière prépondérante.
Transcend Into Oblivion montre tout le potentiel de Necrofier et même si la première partie peut presque sembler un peu faiblarde en comparaison des deux autres, elle est quand même relativement nécessaire pour comprendre d’où le group vient musicalement parlant. Un album riche et intense qui parlera à chaque amateur de Black Metal!

[ENGLISH VERSION] The third album by Texas band Necrofier, Transcend Into Oblivion, will be available tomorrow (Friday, February 27, 2026) via Metal Blade Records. As can be seen from the tracklist, the number 3 seems to have been very important here, as this new opus contains three tracks (or acts) that form a trilogy, interspersed with three instrumental tracks.
The first act is Fires of the Apocalypse, Light My Path, which represents awakening and the moment when the dark night begins. It is probably the most “simple” act, but also the most fundamental in Necrofier‘s musical foundations. Here we have pure, hard Black Metal with influences that literally come from Scandinavian BM (Norway/Finland…). Vocalist Bakka‘s screams pair perfectly with Dobber Beverly‘s fast rhythms and blast beats, making the first three tracks very enjoyable to listen to. Behold, the Birth of Ascension is the first instrumental track, inspired by the band’s taste in film soundtracks, such as those of Dune and The Ninth Gate. This first interlude continues to plunge us into the darkness of Necrofier, particularly through the screams that can be heard here.
The second act features Servants of Darkness, Guide My Way, which represents the struggle and torment caused by the destruction of the human ego and its transformation. The vocalist’s voice literally transforms in this colder atmosphere, which features orchestrations that make the first part almost majestic. As for the second part, it offers us a little respite, notably with the break played on Spanish guitar, which shows a certain melodic approach on the part of the band in what is, all in all, an aggressive track. The third part plunges back into total darkness, accentuated by Bakka‘s guttural voice and the drummer’s more monotonous rhythm. For some, it might seem a bit repetitive, but when it’s done well, as it is here, it works! Mystical Creation of Enlightenment gives us a real respite, even if the vocal lines continue to give the whole thing a very dark, even gloomy feel.
The final act is Horns of Destruction, Lift My Blade, which corresponds to the rebirth of the soul. This last trilogy plunges us into something more melodic, more tribal, with an atmosphere that also leans towards something more shamanic, adding further depth to the immersive and cinematic side of Necrofier. Toward the Necrofier concludes this final act and this new album. This last track could be considered an outro, even though the vocals eventually return in a predominant way.
Transcend Into Oblivion shows Necrofier‘s full potential, and even if the first part may seem a little weak in comparison to the other two, it is still relatively necessary to understand where the band is coming from musically. A rich and intense album that will appeal to every Black Metal fan!
