[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Le septième album du groupe de Post-Hardcore Dayseeker, Creature In The Black Night est disponible depuis ce matin (24 octobre 2025) via Spinefarm Records.
Un banger pour commencer ce nouvel opus à savoir le single Pale Moonlight, c’est sombre presque inquiétant, les riffs sont parfaitement coordonnés avec cette ambiance tout comme la dynamique de la batterie. Rory Rodriguez semble être la seule lumière dans toute cette noirceur avec sa voix presque angélique notamment sur le refrain « Dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight » mais on retrouve quand même quelques parties screamées qui pourraient être tout droit sorties d’un break de Ice Nine Kills par exemple. On continue avec un autre single, l’éponyme Creature In The Black Night, avec son début vaporeux, le morceau semble plus délicat que le précédent tout en restant dans cette atmosphère très sombre mais tout de même sensuelle, un côté bien plus développé ici avec la voix du frontman qui nous envoûte directement comme si il était un vampire charismatique. Mais le break va venir donner un grand coup de pied dans cette fourmilière presque réconfortante construite comme un cocon gothique. Crawl Back To My Coffin et ses influences des années 2000 semble apporter un côté paisible et fera vibrer les cordes sensibles avec la voix de Rory si reconnaissable qui collera des frissons aux plus insensibles d’entre nous. Le refrain apporte la puissance nécessaire sans trop en faire et qui s’inscrira vite parmi les meilleurs du groupe. Cette pseudo lumière vient encore une fois uniquement de la voix du chanteur même si ici il chante des paroles déchirantes sur un amour qu’il pensait éternel, un morceau empreint de nostalgie et d’émotions tout comme le suivant.
C’est avec Shapeshift qu’on va continuer ce voyage dans les ténèbres de Dayseeker. Plus atmosphérique mais aussi avec un regain d’énergie dans la session instrumentale, ce morceau s’inscrit parfaitement dans la continuité de la tracklist de ce nouvel album. Soulburn va se concentrer uniquement sur la performance vocale, le morceau est plutôt dépouillé au niveau des instruments, la musicalité est ici apportée par quelques touches plus électroniques. On se laisse facilement portés par ce type de morceau et ce seulement avec la voix de Rory Rodriguez toujours aussi impressionnant. C’est juste, beau et tout aussi sombre voir encore plus que les morceaux précédents. Les battements du final vont nous conduire tout droit à Bloodlust qui va gagner en intensité et en puissance notamment avec son break et ses cris toujours aussi déchirants.
Cemetery Blues va revenir à la presque vulnérabilité empruntée par Soulburn avec plus de riffs agressifs et une intensité bien différente et va devenir complémentaire de Bloodlust les deux titres évoquant la thématique du deuil et toutes les émotions ressenties entre surprise, colère et enfin acceptation. C’est fragile tout en gardant un côté presque dansant comme une danse avec la mort presque au final. Nocturnal Remedy pourrait être la bande-son parfaite pour un Teen-Movie ou une Teen-Série horrifique centrée autour de Halloween tellement c’est l’ambiance parfaite un lugubre tout en restant accessible au plus grand nombre de possible. Le final là aussi nous conduit tout de suite vers le début de The Living Dead, une composition bien plus lente et triste avec la voix presque larmoyante du vocaliste sur lequel il apporte sa touche très personnelle qui renforce cette impression de tristesse ambiante. Un morceau simple mais bon moins beau ni efficace. Ce nouvel album se referme avec Forgotten Ghost, un dernier titre qui semble bien annoncer la lumière finale après toute cette noirceur, Dayseeker nous a livré un album plongé dans les abîmes mais va nous en extraire ici comme une acceptation à tout les sentiments négatifs et au fait de nous en libérer.
Ce nouvel album de Dayseeker nous plonge dans les côtés les plus sombres de nos vies tout en y apportant quelques touches de lumière et cherche tout de même à nous délivrer des sentiments positifs comme l’acceptation de certaines choses naturelles comme la mort ou la finalité d’évènements négatifs qui peuvent se transformer au final en une force positive. Hâte de découvrir ces nouveaux morceaux en live l’année prochaine lors de leur tournée européenne avec Motionless In White.

[ENGLISH VERSION] The seventh album from post-hardcore band Dayseeker, Creature In The Black Night, has been available since this morning (October 24, 2025) via Spinefarm Records.
The single Pale Moonlight is a banger to kick off this new opus. It’s dark, almost disturbing, with riffs that are perfectly coordinated with the atmosphere, as is the dynamic drumming. Rory Rodriguez seems to be the only light in all this darkness with his almost angelic voice, particularly on the chorus “Dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight,” but there are still a few screamed parts that could have come straight out of an Ice Nine Kills break, for example. We continue with another single, the eponymous Creature In The Black Night. With its hazy beginning, the song seems more delicate than the previous one, while remaining in this very dark but still sensual atmosphere, a side that is much more developed here with the frontman’s voice that captivates us directly as if he were a charismatic vampire. But the break is about to kick this almost comforting anthill, built like a gothic cocoon, wide awake. Crawl Back To My Coffin, with its influences from the 2000s, seems to bring a peaceful side and will strike a chord with Rory‘s recognizable voice, which will give even the most insensitive among us goosebumps. The chorus provides the necessary power without overdoing it and will quickly rank among the band’s best. This pseudo light comes once again solely from the singer’s voice, even though here he sings heartbreaking lyrics about a love he thought would last forever, a song imbued with nostalgia and emotion, just like the next one.
Shapeshift continues this journey into the darkness of Dayseeker. More atmospheric but also with a renewed energy in the instrumental session, this track fits perfectly into the continuity of the tracklist of this new album. Soulburn focuses solely on the vocal performance, with the track being rather stripped down in terms of instruments, the musicality here being provided by a few more electronic touches. It’s easy to get carried away by this type of track, especially with Rory Rodriguez‘s voice, which is as impressive as ever. It’s accurate, beautiful, and just as dark, if not more so, than the previous tracks. The beats at the end lead us straight into Bloodlust, which gains in intensity and power, particularly with its break and its ever-heart-wrenching screams.
Cemetery Blues returns to the almost vulnerability borrowed from Soulburn with more aggressive riffs and a very different intensity, complementing Bloodlust as both tracks evoke the theme of mourning and all the emotions felt between surprise, anger, and finally acceptance. It is fragile while retaining an almost danceable quality, like a dance with death at the end. Nocturnal Remedy could be the perfect soundtrack for a teen movie or horror series centered around Halloween, as it has the perfect gloomy atmosphere while remaining accessible to as many people as possible. The finale also takes us straight to the beginning of The Living Dead, a much slower and sadder composition with the vocalist’s almost tearful voice, to which he adds his own personal touch, reinforcing the impression of ambient sadness. A simple but good track, though less beautiful or effective. This new album closes with Forgotten Ghost, a final track that seems to herald the final light after all this darkness. Dayseeker has delivered an album plunged into the abyss, but here they pull us out of it, as if accepting all the negative feelings and freeing us from them.
Dayseeker‘s new album plunges us into the darkest sides of our lives while bringing in a few touches of light, and still seeks to deliver positive feelings such as the acceptance of certain natural things like death or the finality of negative events that can ultimately be transformed into a positive force. I can’t wait to discover these new tracks live next year during their European tour with Motionless In White.
