[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Le troisième album de Nevertel, Start Again , est disponible depuis quelques jours via Epitaph Records!
Et c’est avec le titre éponyme Start Again construit comme un Prelude que ce nouvel album va démarrer! Ce Prelude met en valeur la voix de Jeremy Michael sur un instrumental assez éthéré voir vaporeux avant le premier véritable morceau Criminal. Avec une intro qui comporte quelques effets sur les parties vocales, on découvre ici un titre très entraînant avec un refrain presque hymnique, une très belle entrée en matière qui finit par se transformer avec du scream et des riffs plus Metal. Cette chanson aborde le fait de se battre pour rester soi-même quand on est confronté à certaines choses comme l’anxiété. Did It All débute avec un couplet sur lequel on retrouve une nouvelle fois les effets sur la voix du vocaliste (genre de choses pas vraiment utiles mais pourquoi pas), le reste du morceau reste aussi pêchu que le précédent avec notamment l’arrivée du Rap de Raul Lopez (également guitariste et producteur de l’album). Le groupe évoque ici les rumeurs et la façon dont elles prennent vie. Break The Silence est un featuring avec le groupe Sleep Theory, on retrouve ici une influence plus Nu-Metal notamment avec ce premier couplet Rap qui rappelle clairement Linkin Park avant un refrain en chant clair, un morceau avec une belle énergie qui mélange plusieurs choses mais qui fonctionne parfaitement bien. La chanson va se transformer en quelque chose de plus sombre sur la deuxième moitié du morceau avec du scream et la batterie qui s’emballe. Le message ici est de ne laisser personne nous prendre pour de la merde et de remettre ces personnes en place, un message fort sur une composition qui l’est tout autant!
Good Intentions commence de façon plus douce et pourra être facilement considéré comme la ballade de l’album même si les choses changent sur le deuxième refrain avec l’ajout de Riffs. Le groupe a déclaré s’être inspiré de la série Arcane et notamment du personnage de Dr Corin Reveck (Singed) pour écrire ce morceau. Sacrifice revient sur quelque chose de plus Rap dans le chant et dans l’ambiance sur le premier couplet, le morceau semble être assez « doux » avant d’exploser sur du scream et un passage bien plus agressif qui change la donne et lui apporte un nouveau souffle.
Losing Faith évoque le fait que parfois les personnes que nous aimons et aidons ne lèveraient pas le petit doigt pour nous. Le morceau a une très bonne dualité entre le chant clair et le côté Rap qui apporte une autre énergie au titre tout en étant bien dosé. Là où Miles Apart est bien plus Rap même si le refrain en chant clair continue à faire briller le morceau ! Some Things va jouer la carte de l’émotion tandis que ICON revient à quelque chose de plus brut et catchy. Playground vous permettra de lâcher vos meilleurs moves dans le pit ou sur un dance-floor tant il est fait pour ça tout en gardant un côté très Rock à la Don Broco alors que Starting Over revient à quelque chose de plus Nu-Metal. C’est avec Ever After que va se conclure ce nouvel opus, le morceau semble assez calme avant d’exploser à coups de riffs vengeurs et de screams plus tournés vers le Metalcore!
Nevertel propose ici un très bon album alternant morceaux Nu-Metal, mais aussi moments plus doux et introspectifs. Probablement un album qui sera dans de nombreux top à la fin de l’année.

[ENGLISH VERSION] Nevertel‘s third album, Start Again, has been available for a few days now via Epitaph Records!
And it’s with the eponymous track Start Again, constructed like a prelude, that this new album kicks off! This prelude showcases Jeremy Michael‘s voice over a rather ethereal, even vaporous instrumental before the first real track, Criminal. With an intro featuring some effects on the vocals, we discover a very catchy track with an almost anthemic chorus, a beautiful introduction that eventually transforms with screams and more metal riffs. This song is about fighting to stay true to yourself when faced with things like anxiety. Did It All begins with a verse that once again features effects on the vocalist’s voice (not really necessary, but why not?), while the rest of the track remains as punchy as the previous one, notably with the arrival of Raul Lopez‘s rap (also the guitarist and producer of the album). Here, the band evokes rumors and how they come to life. Break The Silence features the band Sleep Theory. Here we find a more Nu-Metal influence, particularly in the first rap verse, which is clearly reminiscent of Linkin Park, before a clear-voiced chorus. It’s a track with great energy that mixes several things but works perfectly well. The song takes a darker turn in the second half with screaming and frenzied drums. The message here is not to let anyone treat us like shit and to put those people in their place, a strong message on an equally strong composition!
Good Intentions starts off more softly and could easily be considered the ballad of the album, even if things change on the second chorus with the addition of riffs. The band said they were inspired by the Arcane series and in particular the character of Dr. Corin Reveck (Singed) to write this song. Sacrifice returns to something more rap-like in the vocals and atmosphere on the first verse. The song seems to be quite « soft » before exploding into screams and a much more aggressive passage that changes the tone and gives it a new lease of life.
Losing Faith evokes the fact that sometimes the people we love and help wouldn’t lift a finger for us. The track has a very good duality between the clean vocals and the rap side, which brings another energy to the song while being well balanced. Miles Apart is much more rap-oriented, even if the clean vocals in the chorus continue to make the song shine! Some Things plays on emotion, while ICON returns to something more raw and catchy. Playground will let you show off your best moves in the pit or on the dance floor, as it’s made for that, while keeping a very Don Broco rock feel, and Starting Over returns to something more nu-metal. Ever After concludes this new opus. The track seems fairly calm before exploding with vengeful riffs and screams more reminiscent of metalcore!
Nevertel offers a very good album here, alternating between nu-metal tracks and softer, more introspective moments. This is likely to be an album that will feature in many top lists at the end of the year.
