Le groupe de Folk Metal allemand Feuerschwanz nous présente son onzième album intitulé Knightclub, disponible à partir du 22 Août 2025 par le label Napalm Records.
En ouverture nous avons une jolie invitation au Knightclub en feat avec Dag du groupe de Hip-Hop allemand SDP. Un bon mélange qui fonctionne bien avec une bonne énergie. Alors allez mettre votre plus belle côte de maille pour vous ambiancer jusqu’au bout de la nuit. La prochaine invitée dans cet album est une légende du Metal Allemand. Et oui c’est bien Doro Pesch qui vient donner de la voix aux côtés des Vikings dans Valhalla et c’est très probablement la meilleure chanson de l’album.
Si vous demandez ce que donne Gangnam Style en version Folk Metal et bien c’est ce qui est présenté mais malheureusement, au –delà du fait que ça soit sympa, cela ne rajoute pas grand-chose au titre original. Name Der Rose n’a rien à envier aux autres avec un rythme très basique et répétitif, le groupe aurait-il eu une panne d’inspiration ? Et cela ne s’arrête pas ici puisque Testament a un rythme un peu plus soutenu mais tout aussi cyclique. Mais aussi Avalon et Tanz Der Teufel, qui vont, encore une fois manquer d’originalité dans leurs structures.
The Tale Of Sam est un interlude parlé qui présente l‘histoire de Samwise du Seigneur des anneaux, puis il a quand même droit à sa propre chanson avec Sam The Brave qui a un tempo plus pêchu et assez différent des autres. Un titre qui rend hommage à ce héros de l’ombre. Drunken Dragon est la chanson parfaite pour aller boire un coup à la taverne du coin. Un rythme entêtant et bien harmonisé. Tout comme Einsenfaust qui prend la suite avec en prime une ambiance digne d’une bataille au plein cœur de l’arène. Lords Of Fyre en feat avec Lord Of The Lost va venir conclure cet album avec la même simplicité d’écriture, le feat est raté et c’est bien dommage.
Feuerschwanz nous propose un album plutôt décevant, que ce soit dans sa structure, dans sa composition ou encore dans les feats qui ne sont pas assez exploités, et ne parlons même pas de la cover qui ne mérite même pas d’exister car elle est bien trop fade. Cependant quelques bons points sont à retenir : Tout d’abord le feat avec Doro qui est LE meilleur de l’album, et la partie sur Le Seigneur des Anneaux qui est elle aussi très réussie. Il n’en reste pas moins un bon album si vous découvrez juste le groupe, mais pour moi qui les suit depuis quelques temps je suis déçue.

German folk metal band Feuerschwanz presents its eleventh album, Knightclub, available August 22, 2025, on the Napalm Records label.
The album opens with a delightful invitation to the Knightclub featuring Dag from German hip-hop group SDP. It’s a good mix that works well with great energy. So put on your best chain mail and get ready to party the night away. The next guest on this album is a German metal legend. Yes, it’s Doro Pesch who lends her voice to the Vikings in Valhalla, which is probably the best song on the album.
If you’re wondering what Gangnam Style sounds like in a folk metal version, well, that’s what you get here, but unfortunately, beyond the fact that it’s nice, it doesn’t add much to the original track. Name Der Rose is no better than the others, with a very basic and repetitive rhythm. Did the band run out of inspiration? And it doesn’t stop there, as Testament has a slightly faster but equally cyclical rhythm. Avalon and Tanz Der Teufel also lack originality in their structures.
The Tale Of Sam is a spoken interlude that presents the story of Samwise from The Lord of the Rings, and he even gets his own song with Sam The Brave, which has a more upbeat tempo and is quite different from the others. It’s a track that pays tribute to this unsung hero. Drunken Dragon is the perfect song for going out for a drink at the local tavern. It has a catchy, well-harmonized rhythm. The same goes for Einsenfaust, which follows on with an atmosphere worthy of a battle in the heart of the arena. Lords Of Fyre, featuring Lord Of The Lost, concludes the album with the same simplicity of writing, but the collaboration is a failure, which is a shame.
Feuerschwanz offers us a rather disappointing album, whether in its structure, composition, or collaborations that are not exploited enough, not to mention the cover, which doesn’t even deserve to exist because it’s far too bland. However, there are a few good points to note: first of all, the collaboration with Doro, which is THE best on the album, and the part about The Lord of the Rings, which is also very successful. It’s still a good album if you’re just discovering the band, but for me, having followed them for some time, I’m disappointed.
