[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW] Three Days Grace c’est presque 30 ans de carrière, des tubes à gogo (Not Too Late, Animals I Have Become ou encore I Hate Everything About You) mais aussi un chanteur iconique Adam Gontier malheureusement en 2013 il finit par quitter le groupe et sera remplacé par Matt Walst. Mais heureusement en 2025 le groupe annonce le retour de Adam qui sera toujours accompagné de Matt qui officie également la guitare et annonce un nouvel album intitulé Alienation pour le 22 août 2025 via RCA Records!
L’album débute avec le single Dominate qui s’ouvre par des éclats de rire des membres du groupe suivi par des riffs de guitare bien Heavy comme on les aime! Le premier couplet va vite adoucir le tout avec un effet sur la voix avant un bon refrain, on retrouve les voix des deux chanteurs et surtout celle de Adam Gontier qui manquait tellement malheureusement ce n’est pas vraiment le morceau qu’on aurait vu en ouverture de ce nouvel opus malgré son côté catchy et sa thématique du « Bats-toi pour être le meilleur et obtenir ce que tu veux »! Apologies qui suit aurait plus trouvé sa place avec son refrain hymnique avec son intro qui sort du lot sur laquelle on retrouve Matt mais aussi la batterie qui vient parfaitement ponctué son chant. Les deux vocalistes montrent ici à quel point ils sont complémentaires, le duo fonctionne à merveille et quel bonheur à écouter ! Le single MAYDAY avait annoncé le retour de Adam au chant, le refrain est tout comme celui de Apologies quelque chose qu’on va retenir facilement, la rythmique s’adoucit sur les couplets mais ça n’empêche pas TDG de laisser exploser sa créativité sur le refrain qui va littéralement être le gros point fort de ce titre. Même si au début il ne nous semblait pas être un vrai BANGER de retour on ne peut que comprendre pourquoi le groupe l’a choisi pour ouvrir sa nouvelle Era! Le dernier single en date dévoilé n’est autre que Kill Me Fast, la voix douce et chargée d’émotions de Adam nous accompagne sur le premier couplet avant que le refrain ne vienne tout ravager sur son passage et nous rappelle avec plaisir les premiers albums du groupe avant que Matt ne vienne interpréter la deuxième partie. Le morceau va finir sur un passage presque acoustique qui reprend le début du refrain avant le retour des guitares. Un vrai BANGER !
On continue avec In Waves et ses riffs presque Metal avant l’arrivée de Matt et le refrain de Adam comme d’habitude c’est avec les performances vocales de ses deux chanteurs que Three Days Grace s’envole littéralement dans les stratosphères de la puissance et des émotions brutes. Le break aussi reste intéressant comme un dialogue entre Adam et Matt avant un dernier refrain! Le morceau éponyme Alienation s’ouvre avec une mélodie un peu bizarre avant des riffs toujours aussi costauds et cette petite mélodie qui reste comme en arrière-plan et est-ce qu’on doit précisé que TDG nous gâte tout le long de cet album encore une fois (ou pas?). Les morceaux sont relativement courts et s’enchaînent parfaitement qu’on en redemanderait presque à la fin (ou alors on enchaîne les albums). Never Ordinary est le morceau qu’on pourrait parfaitement assimiler à la balade Rock de l’album avant la réelle ballade Don’t Wanna Go Home Tonight qui va nous emmener très loin en terme d’émotions! On revient au Rock Heavy avec In Cold Blood et le genre de riff qui va briser des nuques avant le couplet et un refrain toujours taillé pour les arenas et ce break qui va encore une fois mettre tout le monde d’accord! In Cold Blood est d’ailleurs un de nos gros coups de coeur sur Alienation. L’album se conclut avec Another Relapse, avec la recette qu’on peut retrouver sur tout les titres de ce nouvel opus, elle fonctionne et reste plutôt classique mais pourrait sembler un peu redondante pour ceux qui aiment la nouveauté!
Three Days Grace sont bien de retour, Adam Gontier aussi et ils proposent sur Alienation une collection de bangers à leur image et surtout comme ils savent si bien les faire! Leur duo vocal Gontier/Walst fonctionne parfaitement et on ne peut que saluer leur performance tout le long de cet album!

[ENGLISH VERSION] Three Days Grace has been around for almost 30 years, with countless hits (Not Too Late, Animals I Have Become, and I Hate Everything About You) and an iconic singer, Adam Gontier. Unfortunately, in 2013, he left the band and was replaced by Matt Walst. Fortunately, in 2025, the band announced Adam‘s return, still accompanied by Matt on guitar and vocals, and announced a new album entitled Alienation, due out on 22 August 2025 via RCA Records!
The album kicks off with the single Dominate, which opens with bursts of laughter from the band members followed by heavy guitar riffs just the way we like them! The first verse quickly softens the whole thing with a vocal effect before a good chorus, featuring the voices of both singers and especially that of Adam Gontier, who was so sorely missed. Unfortunately, this isn’t really the track we would have seen as the opener for this new album, despite its catchiness and its theme of ‘fight to be the best and get what you want’! Apologies, which follows, would have been more appropriate with its anthemic chorus and stand-out intro featuring Matt, as well as the drums that perfectly punctuate his vocals. The two vocalists show how well they complement each other here, the duo works wonderfully and it’s a joy to listen to! The single MAYDAY announced Adam‘s return to vocals. Like Apologies, the chorus is something you’ll easily remember, and although the rhythm softens on the verses, that doesn’t stop TDG from letting their creativity explode on the chorus, which is literally the highlight of this track. Even if at first it didn’t seem like a real comeback banger, we can understand why the band chose it to kick off their new era! The latest single released is none other than Kill Me Fast. Adam‘s soft, emotionally charged voice accompanies us through the first verse before the chorus comes in and devastates everything in its path, pleasantly reminding us of the band’s early albums before Matt comes in to perform the second part. The song ends with an almost acoustic passage that reprises the beginning of the chorus before the guitars return. A real BANGER!
We continue with In Waves and its almost metal riffs before Matt arrives and Adam‘s chorus. As usual, it’s with the vocal performances of its two singers that Three Days Grace literally soars into the stratosphere of power and raw emotion. The break is also interesting, like a dialogue between Adam and Matt before a final chorus! The eponymous track Alienation opens with a slightly bizarre melody before the ever-powerful riffs and this little melody that remains in the background, and do we need to point out that TDG spoils us throughout this album once again (or not?). The tracks are relatively short and flow perfectly, leaving us wanting more at the end (or perhaps we’ll just move on to the next album). Never Ordinary is the track that could perfectly be considered the rock ballad of the album before the real ballad, Don’t Wanna Go Home Tonight, which will take us very far in terms of emotions! We return to heavy rock with In Cold Blood and the kind of riff that will break necks before the verse and a chorus that is still tailor-made for arenas, and that break that will once again bring everyone together! In Cold Blood is one of our big favourites on Alienation. The album concludes with Another Relapse, using the same formula found on all the tracks on this new album. It works and remains fairly classic, but may seem a little repetitive for those who like novelty!
Three Days Grace are well and truly back, as is Adam Gontier, and on Alienation they offer a collection of bangers that reflect their image and, above all, show how good they are at making them! The vocal duo of Gontier and Walst works perfectly, and we can only applaud their performance throughout this album!
