Le groupe de Metal japonais BabyMetal revient avec un cinquième album intitulé Metal Forth, disponible à partir du 8 Août 2025 par le label Capitol Records.
Pour un album contenant 10 titres, il y a pas loin de 7 featuring présents notamment avec Bloodywood, Slaughter To Prevail ou encore le favori des fans avec Electric Callboy. Alors faisons le tour de tout ces partenariat plus extravagants les uns que les autres avec From Me To U en feat avec la chanteuse américaine Poppy. Ce feat colle assez bien entre l’univers girly et heavy de la chanteuse et le coté kawaï du groupe. Une chanson assez bien ficelée et qui s’écoute avec beaucoup de facilité.
Ai-je vraiment besoin de présenter ce feat interplanétaire ? Ratatata avec le groupe allemand Electric Callboy, n’a plus besoin de nous pour se faire connaître, après avoir enflammée la scène du Hellfest 2 années de suite, la première avec BabyMetal et la suivante avec Electric Callboy, ce titre réveille le fêtard qui sommeille en nous. L’exact opposé de Song 3 en feat avec le groupe russe Slaughter To Prevail qui nous offre un sacré concours de scream entre Alex Terrible et Momometal, le tout sur des riffs lourds.
Est-ce mon titre chouchou parce que c’est enfin le feat avec mes chouchous de Bloodywood ? Tout à fait ! Mais Kon! Kon! est bien plus que ça. C’est le meilleur du Metal Japonais et de l’Indien qui se rencontre et c’est une pépite entrainante et qui a déjà marqué les esprits.
Enfin un titre où elles sont seules et là on bascule du côté obscur de la dark Pop Rock japonaise à coup de beat Hip-Hop et d’effets audio rappelant les pixels des jeux vidéos. KxAxWxAxIxI est courte et heureusement car elle est clairement en décalage avec tout ce que l’on connait du groupe. Mais cela reste dans la continuité avec Sunset Kiss qui a une bonne vibe de hit de l’été feel good avec un fond rock/metal. Un feat avec le groupe Polyphia qui offre une chanson que je verrais très facilement dans un animé comme opening. My Queen, en feat avec le groupe canadien Spiritbox, n’a rien d’exceptionnel en soi c’est du Babymetal avec le chat guttural de Courtney LaPlante qui envoie très fort. Dernier feat de cet album avec Tom Morello pour METALI!! qui a déjà fait ses preuves et qui ne doit rien à personne.
Autre chanson solo Algorism, se présente déjà comme un banger en présentant ce qu’elles savent faire de mieux : Du Metal simple lourd et efficace. Tout l’inverse de White Flame qui s’inspire du Power Metal. Avec justesse et précision ce morceau vient donner le coup de grâce.
BabyMetal nous propose un album qui va en décontenancer plus d’un, que ce soit par le nombre de feats présents, que par les influences et style différents représentés. Ce dernier n’est pas un album classique du groupe, les 3/4 des titres sont déjà sortis donc aucune surprise de ce côté là. Comme dirait un grand penseur des années 2000 « Je ne m’attendais à rien mais je suis quand même déçu ».

Japanese metal band BabyMetal is back with a fifth album entitled Metal Forth, available from August 8, 2025, on the Capitol Records label.
The album contains 10 tracks and features no fewer than seven guest artists, including Bloodywood, Slaughter To Prevail, and fan favorite Electric Callboy. Let’s take a look at these partnerships, each more extravagant than the last, starting with From Me To U featuring American singer Poppy. This collaboration fits quite well between the singer’s girly and heavy universe and the band’s kawaii side. It’s a well-crafted song that’s easy to listen to.
Do I really need to introduce this interplanetary collaboration? Ratatata with German band Electric Callboy no longer needs us to make it known. After setting the Hellfest stage alight two years in a row, first with BabyMetal and then with Electric Callboy, this track awakens the party animal in us all. The exact opposite of Song 3, featuring the Russian band Slaughter To Prevail, which offers us a hell of a scream contest between Alex Terrible and Momometal, all set to heavy riffs.
Is this my favorite track because it’s finally a collaboration with my favorites, Bloodywood? Absolutely! But Kon! Kon! is much more than that. It’s the best of Japanese and Indian metal coming together, and it’s a catchy gem that has already made an impression.
Finally, a track where they are alone, and here we switch to the dark side of Japanese dark pop rock with hip-hop beats and audio effects reminiscent of video game pixels. KxAxWxAxIxI is short, which is fortunate because it’s clearly out of step with everything we know about the group. But it’s still in line with Sunset Kiss, which has a feel-good summer hit vibe with a rock/metal background. A collaboration with the group Polyphia, it’s a song that I could easily see as the opening theme for an anime. My Queen, featuring Canadian band Spiritbox, is nothing exceptional in itself; it’s Babymetal with Courtney LaPlante’s guttural vocals coming through loud and clear. The last collaboration on this album is with Tom Morello for METALI!!, which has already proven itself and owes nothing to anyone.
Another solo song, Algorism, is already shaping up to be a banger, showcasing what they do best: simple, heavy, and effective metal. This is the complete opposite of White Flame, which is inspired by power metal. With accuracy and precision, this track delivers the coup de grâce with great accuracy and precision.
BabyMetal offers us an album that will take many by surprise, both in terms of the number of features and the different influences and styles represented. This is not a classic album for the group, as three-quarters of the tracks have already been released, so there are no surprises on that front. As a great thinker of the 2000s would say, “I wasn’t expecting anything, but I’m still disappointed.”
