[English version below] Nous sommes déjà mi-mai et c’est en ce temps pluvieux que nous nous rendons à l’Alhambra pour le concert de Feeder, groupe de rock britannique. C’est à l’occasion de leur tournée en Europe que les londoniens annonçaient un « special guest » il y a de ça plusieurs mois. Quelle ne fût donc pas notre surprise quand, quelques temps après les anglais confirmaient emmener avec eux le groupe de rock japonais ELLEGARDEN en tant que co-headliner ! Il s’agissait là d’une nouvelle inattendue et quelque peu inespérée : pour cause la formation japonaise n’avaient jamais mis les pieds en Europe ! Nous avions donc grandement hâte d’assister à cette date, ELLEGARDEN étant une figure majeure du J-Rock ayant fait une grande pause de presque dix ans dans sa carrière. Merci à Live Nation pour l’invitation à cette soirée haute en émotions.
Les nippons d’ELLEGARDEN prennent place à 19h50 dans une salle pas tout à fait remplie encore, qu’à cela ne tienne la formation est tellement contente de se produire en France qu’elle donne tout ! Véritables pionniers du punk rock japonais des années 2000 le groupe remplie la salle d’une ambiance très festive. Le son et les balances sont parfaites, on passe un moment hors du temps. Dès son deuxième titre, Salamander, la foule saute en rythme avec les musiciens. ELLEGARDEN alterne avec des titres plus récents tels que Cheesecake Factory.
Les membres de ELLEGARDEN prendront la parole s’essayant chacun au français ne serait-ce pour quelques mots : « Bonjour, this my first time speaking french ! Cela fait 25 ans que nous sommes un groupe, j’ai eu 52 ans dernièrement, je ne sais pas si ma carrière va durer longtemps encore (les fans hurlent) mais avant ça nous avons des fans en France que nous n’avons jamais encore rencontré ! » nous dit Takeshi, chanteur du groupe. Il présente également les autres musiciens sur scène, un moment de partage très sympa avec son public.
Le show continue de plus bel avec des titres iconiques tel que Kaze no Hi qui sera le théâtre d’un petit mosh pit, totalement innatendu ! L’émotion est présente pour Middle Of Nowhere ou encore Make a wish. Nous retiendrons le « We are ELLEGARDEN, bon appétit ! » lancé par le vocaliste car c’était très drôle ! Le set des japonais se fini bien trop vite à notre goût mais ils ont tout de même joué 14 titres, nous sommes très satisfaits.
Feeder prend place sur scène et commence à son show dès 21h20. Dans la salle il y a désormais beaucoup plus de monde ! Si la salle n’était pas totalement sold out, elle l’est presque ! Le groupe britannique propose un son qui pourrait être comparé à celui des japonais au niveau du style. Si on ne connaissait pas on passe du coup un bon moment avec un son rock très sympa et la voix envoûtante de son chanteur. On comprend tout de suite pourquoi Feeder a emmené avec lui ELLEGARDEN, les deux groupes marchent à la perfection ensemble !
Les fans sont très contents : dès le deuxième titre intitulé Come Back Around toute la salle tape des mains en rythme. L’ambiance est décidément joyeuse, le morceau est super catchy et dans un style un peu à l’ancienne. Encore une fois les balances sont parfaites, un vrai plaisir !
Grant, le chanteur de la formation prendra la parole : « We are so happy to be back in Paris sharing the stage with our friends Ellegarden from Japan ! » avant de lancer Feeling a moment, un titre plus calme et posé, un des plus connus du groupe qui existe depuis presque 25 ans !
Comme leurs confrères auparavant Feeder nous présentera ce soir des titres datant des années 2000 mais également des sons beaucoup plus récents tels que Hey You ou Playing with Fire qui proviennent de leur dernier album de 2024. Le public semble au rendez-vous sur tout les titres, un vrai plaisir ! Le groupe est ovationné à la fin de presque chaque morceau.
Le climax de la soirée se fera sur Seven Days in The Sun placé à la fin du set sur le rappel. En effet les fans des deux groupes de rock y trouveront leur comptes puisque des membres de ELLEGARDEN viendront sur scène s’amuser avec leurs amis anglais. Un moment de partage unique comme on les aime !
Les anglais finiront par Just a Day pour clôturer leur set marquant ainsi la fin d’un concert marqué par la bonne humeur et l’amitié sur scène ! Nous avons passé un très bon moment en la compagnie des artistes de ce soir et de leurs fans qui avaient fait le déplacement ! Nous espérons les revoir par chez nous un jour.
[ENGLISH VERSION] It’s already mid-May, and it’s in this rainy weather that we head to the Alhambra for a concert by British rock band Feeder. It was during their European tour that the Londoners announced a « special guest » several months ago. Imagine our surprise when, a short while later, the English band confirmed they were bringing the Japanese rock band ELLEGARDEN as co-headliners! This was unexpected and somewhat unhoped-for news: the Japanese band had never set foot in Europe! We were therefore really looking forward to this event, as ELLEGARDEN is a major figure in J-Rock, having taken a long hiatus of almost ten years in their career. Thank you to Live Nation for the invitation to this emotional evening.
The Japanese band ELLEGARDEN took their seats at 7:50 pm in a venue that wasn’t quite full yet. Nevertheless, the band was so excited to be performing in France that they gave it their all! True pioneers of Japanese punk rock in the 2000s, the band filled the venue with a very festive atmosphere. The sound and sound checks were perfect, and we experienced a timeless moment. From their second song, Salamander, the crowd jumped in time with the musicians. ELLEGARDEN alternated with more recent tracks such as Cheesecake Factory.
The members of ELLEGARDEN took the stage, each trying their hand at French, if only for a few words: « Hello, this is my first time speaking French! We’ve been a band for 25 years, I recently turned 52, I don’t know if my career will last much longer (fans scream), but before that, we have fans in France we’ve never met yet! » says Takeshi, the band’s singer. He also introduced the other musicians on stage, a very enjoyable moment of sharing with the audience.
The show continued with iconic tracks such as Kaze no Hi, which led to a small, totally unexpected mosh pit! The emotion was palpable during Middle of Nowhere and Make a Wish. We’ll be back to the vocalist’s « We are ELLEGARDEN, bon appétit! » because it was very funny! The Japanese band’s set ended far too quickly for our liking, but they still played 14 songs, and we were very satisfied.
Feeder took the stage and began their show at 9:20 pm. The crowd was now much larger! If the venue wasn’t completely sold out, it almost was! The British band offered a sound that could be compared to the Japanese in terms of style. Even if you weren’t familiar with them, you’d have a great time with a very nice rock sound and the captivating voice of their singer. We immediately understand why Feeder brought ELLEGARDEN with him; the two bands work perfectly together!
The fans are very happy: from the second track, Come Back Around, the whole room is clapping along. The atmosphere is decidedly joyful, the song is super catchy and has a slightly old-school feel. Once again, the sound checks are perfect, a real pleasure!
Grant, the band’s singer, will speak: « We are so happy to be back in Paris sharing the stage with our friends Ellegarden from Japan! » before launching into Feeling a Moment, a calmer and more sedate track, one of the most famous of the band, which has been around for almost 25 years!
Like their former colleagues, Feeder will present us tonight with tracks from the 2000s, as well as much more recent sounds such as Hey You or Playing with Fire which come from their latest album, 2024. The audience seems to be there for every track, a real pleasure! The band receives a standing ovation at the end of almost every song. The evening’s climax will be Seven Days in The Sun, placed at the end of the set during the encore. Fans of both rock bands will be in for a treat, as members of ELLEGARDEN will come on stage to have fun with their English friends. A unique moment of sharing, just the way we like it!
The English band will finish with Just a Day to close their set, marking the end of a concert marked by good humor and friendship on stage! We had a great time with tonight’s artists and their fans who made the trip! We hope to see them back home one day.
