Le groupe italien Elvenking nous présente son nouvel album intitulé Readers Of The Runes – Luna, disponible à partir du 11 avril 2025 par le label Reaper Entertainment.
Ce nouvel opus est le troisième et dernier tome d’une trilogie d’album intitulée Readers Of The Runes qui plonge les auditeurs dans un monde rempli de magie, de mystères faits d’ombres et de lumières.
Alors plongeons-nous dans cet ultime chapitre, et pour commencer Season Of The Owl qui sans précédent nous embarque dans l’univers avec justesse et précision tout en mettant en place l’atmosphère qui va y régner. Avec le même entrain Luna, qui a donné son nom a ce dernier chapitre, envoie énormément d’énergie avec beaucoup de puissance et un rythme qui va rester dans la tête un moment.
Une légère baisse de vitesse pour Gone Epoch, qui va se placer un peu comme un hymne ou une parenthèse dans une taverne remplie de créatures mythiques qui ne pensent qu’a une chose, faire le plus de bruit possible et le pire dans tout ça, c’est que ça fonctionne plutôt bien, la chanson a des phases de pauses et des phases plus énergiques, mais le niveau remonte d’un cran avec Stormcarrier et son introduction plus heavy car si jusqu’à présent le côté folk apparaissait plus c’est maintenant au tour du power de prendre le relais, mais il y a quand même ce côté folk qui revient par moment avec le petit solo de violon / guitare.
Même combat pour Starbath qui reprends le principe des précédentes chansons mais ce n’est absolument pas le cas de On These Haunted Shores qui démarre vite avant de retomber comme un soufflé sur les couplets, histoire de calmer le jeu mais il ne faudrait pas le calmer de trop non plus avec le refrain. Cette dernière est sympa mais ne fait pas partie de mes favorites et The Ghosting et Throes Of Atonement vont rejoindre cette liste et on peux clairement faire sans.
Il manquait un élément culte d’un album de Folk, la ballade et c’est The Weeping qui nous l’apporte avec beaucoup de justesse, de beauté et une simplicité étonnante au vu des compositions du reste de l’album avec une petite sensation de flashback et de mélancolie très présente. Et enfin l’ultime chapitre avec Reader Of The Runes – Book II avec plus de 10 minutes de récits, de riffs rocambolesques qui agrémenteront bien les histoires fantastiques. Cette chanson résume bien ce qu’il se passe depuis le début.
Elvenking nous propose un album riche en aventures épiques doté d’une bande son géniale et riche en variation de rythme mais aussi d’inspiration. Amateurs de Folk ou Power ou les deux, votre cœur de guerrier, d’elfe ou encore enfant de dragon sera ravi d’avoir enfin un groupe à la hauteur des mythes et légendes qui vous entoure. Sinon pour ceux qui veulent entrer dans cette communauté, Bienvenue dans un monde fantastique et épique agrémentée de Metal, et rien que pour ça : Merci Elvenking !

Italian band Elvenking presents its new album Readers Of The Runes – Luna, available from April 11, 2025 via the Reaper Entertainment label.
This new opus is the third and final volume in a trilogy of albums entitled Readers Of The Runes, which plunge listeners into a world filled with magic, mystery, light and shadow.
So let’s plunge into this ultimate conclusion, starting with Season Of The Owl, which unprecedentedly takes us into the universe with precision and accuracy, setting the mood for what’s to come. Luna, who has given her name to this final chapter, delivers the same spirited energy, power and rhythm that will stay with you for a long time.
A slight drop in speed for Gone Epoch, which sets itself up as a bit of an anthem or a parenthesis in a tavern full of mythical creatures who only want to make as much noise as possible, and the worst thing about it is that it works quite well, the song having pauses and more energetic phases, But the level goes up a notch with Stormcarrier and its heavier introduction, because if up until now the folk side was more apparent, it’s now the power side’s turn to take over, but there’s still that folk side that comes back at times with the little violin/guitar solo.
Starbath takes up the same principle as the previous songs, but that’s definitely not the case with On These Haunted Shores, which gets off to a fast start before falling like a soufflé on the verses, just to calm things down, but you shouldn’t calm things down too much with the chorus either. The latter is nice, but not one of my favorites, and The Ghosting and Throes Of Atonement will be joining this list, and we can clearly do without them.
The Weeping is the missing cult element of a folk album, the ballad, and it brings it to us with great accuracy, beauty and a surprising simplicity in view of the compositions of the rest of the album, with a slight feeling of flashback and melancholy very present. And finally, the final chapter with Reader Of The Runes – Book II, with over 10 minutes of storytelling, rocking riffs and fantastic storytelling. This song sums up what’s been going on all along.
Elvenking offers us an album rich in epic adventures, with a brilliant soundtrack and a variety of rhythms and inspirations. Whether you’re a fan of folk or power or both, your warrior, elf or dragon child heart will be delighted to have a band that lives up to the myths and legends that surround you.
